Country Stars

Driving half the day

And making it to the motel room at last.

Hurling luggage on the bench

next to the TV.

A double bed and

A single bed next to it.

Turning on the TV

And checking the place out.

Squeezing each other hard

And feeling how great it is

To be here.

Sun setting from one window

And the ocean

Getting darker and darker

From another.

A walk to the shops for a cheap meal

sea breeze against our faces,

stars so bright against a black ink sky.

Holding hands on an empty street.

And thinking about the night

In our double bed,

In the room

By the sea.
